AFS, Complaints, and.... the badass vampire, Damon Salvatore!

Meong meong guk guk. Beginilah akibatnya kalo habis ngerjain MYE Social Studies dan Geography dalam satu hari. Bisa-bisanya gurunya ngegabungin dua pelajaran itu... -_- Tangan sampe pegel banget. Kayak kata Mrs Ali, tadi tuh writing marathon. I hope I win haha.

Okay, first things first. Seleksi AFS! GILAAA SUSAH BANGET. Oh tapi sebelumnya, saya mau komentar panjang lebar dulu tentang seleksinya. Jadi seharusnya kan test pertama, Pengetahuan Umum (PU) mulai jam 8. Jam 8 semua pesertanya udah pada masuk ruangan tuh. Ditunggu 5 menit, pengawas belom dateng. 10 menit, belom dateng juga. Setengah jam... Belom dateng juga. Akhirnya jam 8.45 pengawasnya baru dateng! Trus akhirnya mulai testnya juga jam 9... Telat sejam! Emang sih Indonesia dimana-mana ngaret, tapi ini kayaknya ngaretnya lebay. Kalo ngaret normal tuh paling cuman 15 menit gitu, lah ini 45 menit. Ckck. Oke kembali ke topik utama. Test PUnya susah banget. Buat yang tahun depan mau daftar AFS, nih ada beberapa bocoran / contoh-contoh soal...

1. Bakal ada soal-soal tentang current affairs. Contohnya, Indonesia tahun ini jadi host SEA games yang ke 26. Kemaren soalnya ada yang keluar tentang itu. Trus ex president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak baru-baru ini kan turun dari jabatannya. Kemaren ditanyain soal semacam gini: "Siapakah presiden Mesir sebelum Hosni Mubarak?"
2. Ada juga soal-soal tentang lagu-lagu nasional. Pas kemaren, ada satu soal yang ngasih lirik lagu, trus ditanyain siapakah pengarangnya. Ada juga yang ngasih lirik lagu trus ditanya judul lagunya apa.
3. Ada juga soal-soal matematika dasar. Misalnya ada 24 orang, setiap orang dikasih 6 coklat. Kalo ada 18 orang, setiap orang dapet berapa coklat? Ada juga yang ada sebuah lingkaran gitu, trus ada... Sector? Atau apa itu lah, dikasih sudutnya, trus ditanya itu area nya berapa?
4. Ada juga soal-soal dasar Biologi sama Kimia. Kalo kemaren Biologi ada yang tentang virus virus apa lah itu, trus kalo Kimia tentang simbol-simbol element di Periodic Table gitu.
5. Ada yang tentang sejarah Indonesia. Kemaren ditanyain Majapahit masa emas nya atau apa lah itu pas raja nya siapa? Trus ada juga tentang Borobudur, ditanyain relief Karmawibhangga (atau apa lah itu) bercerita tentang apa?
6. Selain itu, ada juga yang tentang Bahasa Indonesia. Pas kemaren ada 4 kalimat gitu, trus ditanyain kalimat mana yang penggunaan awalan di- nya salah.
7. Harus tahu tentang pahlawan-pahlawan Indonesia! Kemaren ada soal yang tentang R. A. Kartini gitu.
8. Selain itu, ada juga tentang singkatan-singkatan gitu, contohnya "AIDS adalah singkatan dari..."
9. Teruuusss ada juga soal-soal Geografi! Kemaren ditanyain tentang "Negara ... berbatasan di darat dengan negara apa?" pokoknya gitu-gitu lah.
10. Ada juga tentang pemanasan global. Ditanyain gitu, pemanasan global adalah...
11. Ada juga tentang award-award gitu, yang di Indonesia sama mancanegara. Contohnya, kemaren ditanyain "Alicia Keys memiliki berapa Grammy Award?" "Yang bukan merupakan nominee Grammy Award tahun ini adalah?" "Kata 'Grammy' diambil dari?"
12. Soal yang paling gampang nih: Tentang Justin Bieber. Ini kayaknya soal gratisan gitu deh, supaya gak ada yang nilainya 0. -_-
13. Ada juga tentang motto/slogan/apa lah dari Angkatan Darat/Laut/dan lain-lain
14. Apa lagi ya..? Lupa :|

Pokoknya susah banget lah PU nya. Dari 100 soal yang pasti jawabannya tuh kurang dari 50 soal... Gila banget sih soalnya -_- Ini mah namanya bukan pengetahuan 'umum', tapi pengetahuan macem-macem (?) Oh ya, pengetahuan umumnya ini bisa dari yang bertahun-tahun lalu sampe cuman beberapa hari sebelum test lho.

Kalo Bahasa Inggrisnya relatif mudah lah. Rada mirip-mirip UN gitu. Ada 3 section, comprehension (jadi dikasih passage trus ntar ada soal-soal tentang passage nya), trus vocab sama apaa gitu lupa. Hehe.

Kalo Bahasa Indonesianya ada 3 pilihan soal:

1. Jika kamu menjadi Menteri Pendidikan, apa yang akan kamu lakukan untuk memajukan pendidikan di Indonesia?
2. Sebutkan 3 prinsip hidup kamu dan jelaskan bagaimana prinsip-prinsip itu dapat membantu kamu untuk mencapai cita-citamu.
3. Apabila kamu berada di posisi orang tuamu, apa yang akan kamu nasihatkan kepada dirimu saat ini?

Gue pilih yang nomor 2 :D Sebelom berangkat seleksi gue udah konsultasi sama Dady dulu hahaha, brainstorming untuk essay nya. Untungnya soal essay yang keluar mirip-mirip sama yang udah dipikirin.

Nanti tanggal 20 Mei, hasil testnya bakal diumumin di website chapter masing-masing. Gueu pingiiiiiiiiiiiin banget nih... Semoga lolos seleksinya... Tapi ya kalo nggak lolos... Ya sudah lah nggak papa. Yang penting udah usaha :D Tapi yang nyesek itu adalah kalo gue gak lolos dan temen-temen yang lain pada lolos semua. Nyesek banget itu, nyesek. Kalo misalnya itu bener-bener terjadi, malu banget deh -_-

Oke sekarang lanjut ke topik berikut. Apa ya? Hm hm. Oh ya. Selanjutnya saya hanya ingin ngomel-ngomel saja, jadi bagi yang tidak tertarik mendengan omelan dan keluhan saya, silakan tinggalkan blog post ini :-) Terima kasih.

Yang pertama... Bisa gak sih kalo ngantri itu yang sabar? Kemaren pas di airport, pas baru ngantri masuk pesawat, biasa lah, banyak orang yang kayak gak sabar banget pingin masuk pesawat trus ngedesek-desek gitu. Emang ada apa sih di pesawat? Masuk ke pesawat duluan kan bukan berarti sampe duluan. Sampenya juga sama-sama kaleee. Gak perlu buru-buru...

Yang kedua, untuk orang yang merokok, tolong jangan merokok di tempat-tempat yang tidak diperbolehkan untuk merokok (?) Maksudnya merokok itu di tempat yang bener kek. Kemaren saya masuk lift pas baru mau berangkat sekolah atau pulang gitu, trus baru masuk bau rokok udah kerasa banget. Hueeek, gak enak! Untuk orang yang merokok, you need to know that when you smoke in public, you are also affecting the people around you. Dan katanya, menjadi perokok pasif itu lebih bahaya daripada perokok aktif. Walaupun saya gak ngerti gimana bisa kayak gini, tapi kalo itu bener... Wah wah wah. Jangan sampe lah. Keenakan nanti, yang ngerokok siapa kok yang menanggung risiko nya orang lain.

Yang ketiga, berkaitan dengan seleksi AFS kemaren, untuk semua orang-orang di Indonesia.... Tolong jangan biasain ngaret. Saya juga kadang-kadang ngaret sih, tapi belakangan ini saya udah usaha supaya gak ngarett. Gak enak kalo misalnya kita janjian ketemuan orang, dan orang yang kita tunggu itu telat. Kalo gak mau digituin, makanya sendirinya jangan suka telat!

Kayaknya sebenernya gue mau ngeluh tentang banyak hal tapi sekarang lupa -_- Ya sudah lah. Lagipula, ngeluh itu gak baik kan?

Last but not least.... I JUST WATCHED THE VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASON 2, EPISODE 21. It was EPIC, man! Saya menitikkan air mata berkali-kali.... Hiks hiks :'( Bener-bener sedih deh. Tiga orang mati. Jenna Sommers mati. John Gilbert mati. Witch jahat mati (gak peduli sih yang ini). Kasian banget Jenna. Dia gak salah apa-apa, malah mati. Oh ya, screw you, Elijah! You traitor! Kesel banget sama Elijah... Dasar Elijah sialaan...! Katanya bisa dipercayain... Eh malah berkhianat. Trus kasian Damon! Damon cannot die! Tapi mustahil juga sih kalo Damon mati. Dia kan salah satu tokoh utama TVD. Dan pasti kalo Damon mati... Jumlah orang yang nonton TVD bakal berkurang drastis. Bener deh. Tanpa Damon, TVD gak bakal sama. *eaaa

Oke kayaknya gitu aja. Minggu depan bakal jadi minggu yang sangat sibuk. Mid Year Exams!

Countdown: 8 Hari Menjelang Seleksi Tahap 1 AFS Year Program #SeleksiAFS

8 More days 'till the AFS test! Belakangan ini aku sibuk banget.. Minggu depan seleksi AFS, English & Malay MYE, udah gitu ada Chemistry Olympiad. Tapi yang paling bikin deg-deg-an adalah: AFS. Serius. MYE mah.. Bukannya gak penting ya, tapi kan udah tau format soalnya seperti apa, dan paling enggak udah latihan sejak berbulan-bulan lalu gitu lah. Chemistry Olympiad juga sebenernya nggak 100% niat. Maksudnya niat juga sih, tapi nggak terlalu menarik gitu lah ini -_-. Nah AFS... I think about it day and night. Ea. Wkwk. Tapi bener. Aku cuman tau kalo nanti ada test Pengetahuan Umum, Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Inggris. Tau sih contoh-contoh soalnya, tapi kan soal yang keluar bisa tetep aneh-aneh. Ya begitu lah. Makanya harus belajar!

December Holidays ARE COMING!

"Well hello people. It's the last week of school! I can't believe I'm gonna be back at home in a couple of weeks. I still have this headstart programme thing for one and a half weeks so I have to stay in Singapore for a bit longer. And that also means I'll have to spend my birthday in Singapore :(. But I'm trying to see the positive side of this. So... For this year only, I'm gonna 'postpone' my birthday and pretend that it's actually on the 14th of November. Which means I'll be 14 for 372 days and I'll be 15 for only 358 days. :D

The final exam results have come out and... Not bad :). I'm 6th in class! Happy to hear that.

The past few days I've been really really really into Glee. You know Glee right? It's this TV show on FOX. It's amazing, I really love it. As Cory Monteith put it, it's like High School Musical has been punched in the stomach and had it's lunch money stolen. I don't really get what he means.. But I guess I'll stick to his analogy. But I think it's just awesome and that you should watch it.

I didn't really know what Glee was until I heard my friends talking about it, which was like half a year ago. It's on every Tuesday/ Wednesday night (I forgot), and I'm not really allowed to watch TV on weekday-nights so that's why I didn't really know what Glee was. But I did watch an episode, after I asked permission from my Mom. And at that point of time, I didn't really get what people really saw in Glee, and just thought that it was just some ordinary TV show. But around two weeks ago me and my dad went to this DVD retailer and I bought the complete season 1 of Glee. And.. I finished watching all of it in like 4 or 5 nights (I had school during the day). And I loved it.

So.. FOX is already airing the second season now. I can't wait to go back to Indonesia so that I can watch Glee! I don't think they have FOX at the place I'm staying now. So for now I guess I'll just have to wait. Oh, and Glee does really awesome musical numbers. Watch this.

More Mid Year Exam results!

Today, I finally found out my Math Mid Year Exam results:

• E. Maths Paper 1: 61 out of 80! Yeeay :D
• E. Maths Paper 2: 47 out of 80! Quite good :)
• A. Maths: 18 out of 80. Very very bad. But, well, I'm not used to it yet..

So that's it. And I just found out today that we're not supposed to leave our books in class. Ahhh. Then does that mean I have to bring all those heavy books home? No please :( Well, a few is ok, but the whole bunch of it.. Wow that's real heavy!

Hmm, oh yeah. I'm getting quite nervous for the PHSS Carnival and Sports day.. It's on Friday. And I'm going to run the 100m girls' run. I hope I'm fast enough. I hope I'll be able to start quickly, and not waste time, and win 1st prize. Aamiin...

Oh yeah, there was an assembly at school today, and there was this group that came, I can't remember the name, and I didn't really manage to hear their name. But what I wanted to emphasize is.. That they used Indonesian instruments in their performance. I mean, wow. That's cool. Indonesian instruments! And... This proves to us that even the non-Indonesians are using our traditional instruments, so why aren't we? We're Indonesians, it's our job to preserve the Indonesian music instruments.

So, I guess that's all I'd like to say now. Thank you for reading :)

My Mid Year Exam results.. Not so good, but I bet I can catch up! Just watch me!

At last, the Mid Year Exams finished... Today, we went to school as usual, and we studied as usual. Aww man, the MYE has finished, please... I want some fun! In Indonesia, I was preparing for both the national exams, and the PACT. And now, after all of that has finished, I still have to catch up with the things here.

Anyway, I found out the results of some of my MYEs;

• Malay: 35 out of 70. Did I pass?
• Geography: 13/40. I FAILED.

For Malay... I think I will do well. I only need to get used to the language, and that's all. It's not quite different from Indonesian, only some of the tenses and words are different. So I think I'll do well later.

For Geography... I will try to do better. Because I know I can do it. I missed a lot of the things, so it's normal for me to fail the test. And... The teacher said I put a lot effort in it, which means I will do better!

So... I guess I'll have to spend some of my holiday studying. I hope I'll learn fast, Aamiin. And I hope I can be one of the smart kids in class, Aamiin. :)

First week at my new school: Pei Hwa Secondary School

At last this week has came! Well, I wasn't really looking forward to it actually.. Because all I thought about was that 'I'll miss my friends' and nothing else. But well, it turned out that Pei Hwa wasn't bad at all.

I was very very nervous at the first day. I went there by taxi with my mom and my dad, and we arrived at school super fast. We already arrived before 7, and the school starts at around 8.30. Well, of course we didn't know, If we knew that we wouldn't have arrived that fast. But never mind, better to be early than late, especially on the first day of school.

So when we arrived, we met Mr Tan, and then we had a little talk with the VP, she introduced us to Mr Beng, my form teacher, and then she said that the teachers will be having a meeting on every Monday, so the school won't start as early as usual. Well, that's good then :)

We sat at the canteen and waited, and at last Mr Beng came, and then he took me to the class. My class is 3E2, there are 41 students (including me). At first I sat at the back, but then Mr Beng changed my seat with Boon Kuan, so now I'm sitting in the middle.

At the first day, it turned out that there was a NAPFA test after school, and I didn't bring my PE attire! So I had to buy a new set at the school book store -_-. I think I failed one of the tests, the sit & reach test. Hmm it's quite weird actually, becase I think I can reach quite a long distance, and now I failed! Hmm weird. But anyway, I got an A on the shuttle run :D

The next day, it turned out that there was another test! And I didn't bring my PE attire again! Well actually, I already guessed that there will be another test, but it was already too late. I was already on the way to school when I realized that. So at school I had to borrow a PE attire from the general office.

The third day, there wasn't any test anymore, but I still had to bring my PE attire because there was a sport session in the morning. After school there was an English and Social Studies acer. I didn't know at first, so I didn't bring my Social Studies book, but never mind.

On the fourth day, the Mid Year Exams started. The first exam was English. Hmm I didn't know whether I did good or not.. But I hope I will. Anyway, my Mid Year Exam results won't be recorded for the Final Exams, so I'm quite lucky..

The fifth day was the Malay Mid Year Exam. Hmm actually it's not quite hard.. But Malay is different from Indonesian, so I don't know whether my answers were right or not. But anyway, I went home to Indonesia on the fifth day. Monday (3.04.10) is a public holiday, so my father said why don't we go back to Indonesia. Of course I was happy with this invitation! :D

So now I'm in Indonesia, but I'll be going back on Monday. Anyway, the National Exams (UN) will be announced on 7th May!! Wow, I can't wait to see my results.. I hope they're satisfying :D

Test PE

Hari ini ada test PE! Testnya itu lari, sit-up, sama push-up. Aku lumayan lemah deh kalo push-up. Kayaknya termasuk yang payah. Tapi ya setidaknya aku udah melakukan dengan jujur. Kalo soal sit-up, nggak terlalu jago juga, cuman ya nggak payah juga. Nah kalo soal lari, kayaknya aku termasuk yang tinggi (diantara cewek). Aku emang lumayan suka lari sih.
