Love Gives Me Hope and Gives Me Hope

Today, my older sister quit competitive swimming, her passion for over 10 years.

She's so good, she's had coaches tell her she could make it to the Summer Olympics when she turns 15, in a year.

She told my parents she wanted to quit because she was tired of it. She told me she quit so she could save our struggling family money.

When I was 14 my abusive boyfriend got me pregnant.

When he found out he left me and told me never to contact him again. My best friend said he would always be there for me, no matter what.

He is now my 9 year old son's stepfather and hero.

My husband's love that can withstand even high school GMH

A man and his two daughters were on a boat.

A larger boat was coming right at them, and was going to run right into them.

The man jumped over and pushed his daughters out of the way, saving their lives - and losing his legs.

I see him working out at the gym every day with his prosthetics. He GMH.

When my daughter was 15, her boyfriend turned 18.

He was forced to break up with her by his parents because he was considered an adult.

Three years he waited, and on her 18th birthday he proposed to her.

Love shown by teenagers that never dies, GMH.

A few years ago my grandfather was admitted into the ICU unit in the hospital.

I went to go visit him, but could only watch him through a glass box. I stood there crying, while he lay there with his eyes closed, barely alive.

The nurse told him I was there. He opened his eyes, smiled ear to ear, and waved to me.

That night he passed away. YLGMH.

Ten years ago, my mother forbid my sister to see her boyfriend due to his past problems with drug addiction.

She continued to see him even though it meant being grounded and having her car taken.

Today, they are celebrating 10 years of his sobriety - and their wedding.

Mike and Emma, your LGMH.

Today, I was visiting my best friend. He's two years younger than I am.

We were talking about the perfect boy/girl.

When he started to describe his perfect girlfriend, he said "She'll have long black hair and chocolate brown eyes. Here's a picture of her!"

He handed me a small mirror. His LGMH.

A week ago, I married my girlfriend of 8 years.

On our wedding night, she gave me a huge box full of over 2,800 letters she wrote to me -- one for every single day since our first date.

We broke up in 2004 and didn't get back together until 2008.

Her love even when I rejected her GMH.

Today, my best friend posted a hateful message on my formspring.

It was all about how much better she would be with my boyfriend. Her name was not included, but there were events referenced that made it apparent that it was her.

My boyfriend saw it and sent me a 6-text-long message about all of the reasons he loves me.

Boys who care GMH.

Today my sister saw an elderly woman from our church sitting alone at a diner.

She left our table to keep her company. The woman was so pleased, she had the biggest smile on her face.

My sister's kind heart and compassion GMH.

When I was in 2nd grade, my mom would give me rides to school every day.

One day she came across an elderly man who'd walk an entire 1 mile into town to get to his house. He did this every day, during the middle of the frozen winter.

Every day, for months, she'd go out of her way to give him a ride to his house.

She GMH.

School was getting rough because I had no computer to write my essays on.

That summer my English teacher gave me a brand new laptop that her and her husband bought for me.

She said, "I heard you saying you needed this. The password is college, because that's where I hope you're going."

She GMH.

All of those things GMH.
